Name EJ
About I have loved wandering the radio landscape carving a niche in reporting news and sport and thrive on finding stories in uncanny places, exploring different communities and seeking out a good yarn or debate across a broad range of issues. I challenge the listener to think outside the square whilst also taking time to hear the audiences opinion. These skills combined with my experience in radio will create trust and build a strong connection with the listener role.

Before heading stateside I was applying my trade as the News Journalist and Sports Director / announcer in Darwin, with NT Broadcasters (MIX1049, HOT100, TOP COUNTRY) covering news, current affairs and sport throughout the Northern Territory. There have been many highlights during this period which have included reporting on feature stories such as: Japanese mining group INPEX investing $34 billion dollars into the NT, US President Barack Obamas visit to Darwin, NT Thunder FC win two premierships within a week in NEAFL and covering the 2012 NT General Election. Another memorable moment was being on air for two separate shifts of twelve hours keeping top end residents informed on the tracking of Cyclone Carlos in 2011. Covering these moments and experiences has given me as a solid grounding as a radio Journalist / Broadcaster while building my skill set to cover any story or community issue and present the content in a professional manner.

Other than being the companys Journalist I hosted MIX1049s Drive program (2 years) and have been the cover presenter for the stations current affairs radio show 360. Being involved with these programs has given me a great grounding in talk back radio covering any topic whilst adhering to the tight format that commercial radio offers.

My creativity has also flourished in these roles as I formed MIX1049s sports show The Paddock in early 2010 with the show becoming a mainstay of the stations broadcast over the past three years. Everything in the show from hosting, producing, organising interviews, and writing sweeps, promos, and openers were all of my creation. My work on the The Paddock saw me awarded the 2011 ACRA (Australian Commercial Radio Award) for best sports presenter in a provincial market.

The opportunity to uncover unique stories and report on the important sporting issues that matter to the local audience is one I will relish. My attention to detail coupled with a strong work ethic and elite leadership skills compliment the skill set I possess to handle any pressurised environment. My focus is to deliver factual sports news and content across all radio TV and online platforms.

I look forward to discussing my application further with you at your earliest convenience.
