My name is Ryan McLaughlin and I have been involved in radio since February 2008. I got my first start in radio at the station on the campus of my Alma Mater (The University of Alabama at Birmingham - UAB: BlazeRadio. As a DJ, I was doing 3 shows a week (FRI, SAT, SUN)and went from simply spinning songs to hosting countdown shows to eventually coordinating the broadcasts of and serving as a color analyst and play-by-play man for our school's Intramural Athletics Broadcasts. In the Summer of 2009 I was named the General Manager of BlazeRadio and was responsible for the largest staff and highest listener ratings in station history. In 2010 I made my first venture into professional territory by interning with WJOX-FM in Birmingham, AL. I learned ways to craft my production skills, as well as tips on how to prepare for shows. After graduating in 2011, I became a Promotions Tech for Citadel/Cumulus Media and also became a part-time Board Op for WJOX and WAPI FM. In the Fall of 2011, I became the producer for Richard Dixon of WAPI-FM and the co-host for WJOX's "JOX Gameday Overtime" (eventually becoming co-host of JOX Gameday).
Starting June 2012, I became an admissions counselor for UAB, which is a full-time position. I have since discontinued my connection with WAPI-FM, but have continued to serve as a co-host for JOX Gameday.
I also write part time for a blog called "From The Rafters"
